A MOTHER and her teenage son have been tragically killed and two other boys remain in hospital after they were trapped in a car following a collision with a tractor.
The family from Powys were in a red Vauxhall Corsa travelling on the B4362 in a village near Leominster, Herefordshire at 10.10am yesterday when they were involved in a collision with a green John Deere tractor.
Emergency services battled to free the driver and her three sons from the wreckage. The oldest boy, in the front passenger’s seat, was pronounced dead at the scene and his mother died shortly after being airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
The two other young boys - brothers of the teenage boy who died - remain in the Birmingham Children's Hospital, one of them is described as critical but stable and the other is in a stable condition.
Inspector Damian Sowrey, from West Mercia Police, today said: “We are continuing to investigate the circumstances and particularly want to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw either vehicle being driven immediately beforehand.”
Anyone with any information are urged to contact Hereford Police on 101.
