RESIDENTS have been left baffled by a series of mysterious noises.

On Sunday residents in the Wrexham Street area of Mold said they heard an explosion just after 2am, which has been left unexplained.

Residents in nearby Northop Hall reported a similar noise at about 9pm on Monday.

Kaylea Ducker was tending to her horses with her boyfriend Will Christian at Northop Hall Farm when she heard Monday’s blast.

She said: “We had just been up the field to feed the horses, got back into the house and heard a very loud rumble, it went on for a while.

“My boyfriend and his dad went outside on the driveway and felt the ground vibrating every time the rumble sounded.

“We had one of our dogs outside with us at the time and he started barking at the rumble and cowered down.

“It was certainly something strange.”

Residents in Mold said they were woken by the loud noise on Sunday.

Lesley Miller, of Bromfield Park, said it sounded like a building collapsing.

She said: “It was so loud it woke me up. I looked out of my window to see what had happened but there was nothing there.”

Sarah Anderson, who lives just off Wrexham Street, said: “It sounded like a bomb. There was a flash just before it as well.

“I don’t know what it was, it was really loud.

“It was definitely not a firework, it was louder than that.”

One Mold woman, who asked not to be named, was unable to sleep and was reading at about 2.15am.

She said: “I thought a factory had gone up, or maybe there had been a gas explosion it was so loud. It was certainly louder than any firework I’ve ever heard.

“I looked out of windows at the back and front of my house but I couldn’t see any flames.

“One or two other lights came on in the street so some of my neighbours must have been woken up by the noise.”

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were informed and sent a fire officer to conduct a survey of Wrexham Street but found nothing.

A spokesman for the fire service said they had received no reports of the second incident in Northop Hall.

North Wales Police and Flintshire Council said they had not been made aware of any incidents.

A spokesman for the region’s electricity distribution network supplier, Scottish Power, said there were no faults reported in the area.

Gas company Wales and West Utilities said it had no reports of anything in the area.
