SHOCKED villagers have been paying their respects to a mum who died hours after giving birth.

Tributes have been flooding in for Liz Maddocks, of Rhos, Wrexham, who lost her life following the arrival of baby Lily.

The baby was born and toasted in pubs but mother-of-three Liz died the following day.

Following her death partner Wayne Jones uploaded a touching photograph of fellow rugby fan Liz and their new daughter to her Facebook page, sparking an outpouring of kind words and support from the couple’s family and friends.

John Gittins, acting coroner for North East Wales, has been informed of the death but has not yet opened an inquest. A post-mortem examination is expected to he held today to establish the cause of death.

Cllr Paul Pemberton, a member of Rhos Community Council and Wrexham Council, paid tribute to Liz. “I believe she was from the Rhos community and as a member of the council I would like to pass on my condolences at this sad time,” he said.

People close to the family say the baby is home and doing well. Meanwhile, members of the family say they are “devastated” by Liz’s loss.

Many friends have left messages of condolence on Facebook. Julie Griffiths wrote: "So shocked, I can't believe this has happened. Such a cruel twisted world.

“Liz, you made Wayne the happiest he's ever been and your memory will always live on with him and your three beautiful children.”

Rachael Williams said: “So very very sad. A wonderful happy person. Rest in peace Liz. Lots of love and our thoughts are with Wayne, Amy, Oliver and Lily and all your family.”

Sarah Williams added: “Wayne, my heart goes out to you today. You both have a beautiful girl and her mum is looking down on her forever.”

Commenting on a Facebook picture of Liz and Lily, Amanda Lindop wrote: “A lovely moment captured forever. Lizzy will live on in that gorgeous baby girl and if she’s anything like her mother will live her life to the full.

“God bless you all. So very, very sorry.”

From Julie Wright: “A bond which will never be broken. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time.”

Neil Mason: “Seems so unfair. RIP Liz. It was a privilege to know you. Thoughts are with your family. You will be sadly missed.”

Annika Sands: “Such sadness and sorrow brought to us all. Liz may you be fluttering those angel wings upstairs and looking down on the rest of us. Sleep tight Liz, my prayers and thoughts are with all your family.”

Helen Susanne Edwards: “Still so shocked and saddened. Liz you will always be remembered fondly by all your friends. My heart goes out to your family and Wayne.”

And simply, Neil Palin: “Thank you for being one of the best friends I've ever had.”
