A CYCLIST died yesterday after his bicycle was in a collision with a Land Rover.
Alan Mort, 63, suffered serious injuries in the crash on the A548 coast road near Flint and later died in hospital.
Emergency services were called to the incident, close to the Manor Industrial Estate, shortly before 12.40pm.
The Welsh Ambulance Service said Mr Mort had been taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital with serious injuries.
The A548 was shut in both directions between Aber Road and Station Road following the crash.
Flint councillor Alex Aldridge said his thoughts were with the family of Mr Mort, who was from the Kinmel Bay area, near Rhyl.
“It is a terrible tragedy and on behalf of everybody in Flint I wish to extend my deepest condolences to the gentleman’s family,” he said.
“It is very shocking when something like this happens.”
The driver of the Land Rover, a 44-year-old man, was arrested by police.
