MELIDEN 9
Y GLANNAU 1

THINGS went to form as Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division basement side came unstuck in heavy fashion at title-chasing Meliden.

The St Asaph-based side managed to bag a 26th minute goal through Josh Parry, but by that stage second-placed Meliden were already three goals to the good, on their way to netting nine.

The initial three goals came in a blistering four-minute spell, after James Harper gave the hosts the lead.

Further strikes from Lee Johnson and Jon Grimley quickly followed, before Parry popped for Y Glannau’s goal.

Jordan Collins restored the three-goal advantage after half-an-hour, while further efforts from Grimley and Gareth Walsh gave Meliden a more-than-healthy 6-1 advantage by half-time.

Collins grabbed another after an hour, while the home side had to wait until the last 10 minutes to stretch their lead.

Johnson scored his second and the final word went to Jon Grimley, completing his hat-trick with three minutes left.
