WALES skipper and Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey has made a heartfelt video appeal to help trace a missing factory worker from Mold.

The Caerphilly-born midfielder, 21, urged Arsenal fan Michael Murphy or anyone who knows anything about his disappearance to come forward in a clip on YouTube.

Mr Murphy, 32, was last seen leaving the Convatec factory on Deeside Industrial Park at about 6am on Wednesday, January 4.

His red Volkswagen Polo was recovered by police from the Flintshire Bridge that afternoon after it was reported by a member of the public.

In the 35-second clip Ramsey said: “This is an appeal for a missing Arsenal fan.

“Michael Murphy was last seen on Wednesday, January 4, in Deeside, Flintshire.

“This is a picture of Michael. If you have seen him or know where he is please contact North Wales Police by calling 101.”

He added: “Michael, if you are watching this, please get in touch. Your family, friends and everyone at Arsenal are worried about you. Thank you.”

Mr Murphy, who played for Aston Park Rangers, was honoured on the football pitch this weekend when members of Connah’s Quay Tigers men’s team wore yellow ribbons when they played Sychdyn on Saturday in the Clwyd Football League fixture.

A spokesman for the Connah’s Quay Tigers said: “A lot of us played for Aston with Mike and we are all deeply concerned at the moment of his whereabouts.”

More than 4,000 people have joined a group on Facebook set up to trace his whereabouts.

Users of the social networking site changed their profile pictures to an image of Mr Murphy and a yellow ribbon in a bid to raise awareness of the search.

Family spokesman Annette Thomas said the Yellow Ribbon campaign would now run every weekend until Mr Murphy is found.

North Wales Police are following positive lines of inquiry following a reconstruction of his last movements.

Police questioned motorists on the A458 near Deeside Industrial Park between 5.45am and 6.45am exactly a week after his disappearance to try to jog their memories.

During this exercise a number of people said they saw his car and a described seeing a man walking along the opposite eastbound carriageway towards Deeside Industrial Park between around 6.05am and 6.10am.

Mr Murphy is 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build with short, fair hair, which is balding.

At the time of his disappearance he was wearing a dark grey flat cap, a long, dark grey duffle coat, blue jeans and white Adidas trainers with three black stripes on the side.

Anyone with information can call North Wales Police on 101.
