A WOMAN  and her pet dog were attacked after being set upon by a pack of ‘wild dogs’ on a Gwynedd beach.

Eira Thomas was walking her one year-old cocker spaniel, Bella along Dinas Dinlle beach, near her home in Llandwrog, when she was met by the pack of five rottweiler-type dogs.

Ms Thomas, 22, who was listening to her MP3 player at the time, said the dogs “appeared out of nowhere”, and was forced to watch on helpless as they attacked her beloved pet, throwing it up into the air.

Attempts by Ms Thomas to help saw the dogs turn on her.

As a result of the injuries suffered, Bella had to be put down.

Miss Thomas was taken to hospital suffering a bite to the ear, as well as puncture wounds to her hands and arms.

“I turned round and was shocked to see five dogs,” said the dog walker. They weren’t barking or growling, they were just focused on my puppy.

“I tried not to make any movement that would alert them but they carried on walking towards us. One approached Bella, and went to sniff her.

“The next thing, he grabbed her and threw her in the air.”

The terrified owner described how two other dogs joined the attack on Bella.

“I tried to fight. When I went in I got bitten on both hands. I’ve never been that scared before.”

Ms Thomas was then approached by the dogs’ unidentified owner.

“At that point a man arrived, and he saw the blood.
“He said to me, ‘I’m so sorry, I didn’t realise you were here’.

Ms Thomas then fled, immediately taking Bella to the vet, where after advice she was put down.

“They weren’t under control at all, they were like wild dogs.
“If he hadn’t restrained those dogs, I don’t know what I’d have done,” she added.

The owner is believed to have driven off in a red Ford Transit van, parked nearby.
