NEARLY 200 hospital beds in the Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust could go, if measures to discharge patients sooner are put into practice.

Discharging 50 per cent of patients before midday, and setting an estimated discharge date upon arrival, are some of the measures in the new ‘Bed Bundle’ being proposed by the trust.

If the measures are implemented the trust would need 182 fewer beds, according to a report which went before Powys County Council’s cabinet on Tuesday.
