“WE leave nine days after Christmas, this is the first time I’ve left the USA!”

Lindsay Minton, together with bandmates Mercy Harper and James Vehslage, are exiting the United States and heading straight for the UK to bring us their first full-length album.

Formed from the ashes of another band, guitarist/vocalist Lindsay and bassist Mercy moved to Houston, Texas to create ‘football, etc’ with original drummer Brandon Baker.

They self-released an EP in 2009 - an impressive feat in itself - which garnered attention from so-called emo revivalists everywhere. It went on to characterise the band’s sound and, since Vehslage took over drumming responsibilities, the band has been compared to emo bands from the Mid West, explained Lindsay.

“It’s Indie rock at its core,” she said. “I’ve played with Mercy since 2005 and this current band set-up is great.”

The band have just finished playing some unofficial shows at South by South West (SXSW).

“We played a house party when two record labels had a showcase. It was great to be right in the middle of everything. It was my first time there and there was a lot of free music which is good.

“We like to keep a pretty short set,” said Lindsay of their live shows. “They’re kind of DIY shows. But we’re gearing up to play a little longer in the UK.”

The band’s first full-length effort, The Draft, was released in the UK on December 12, and to support its release, they will be hitting Mozarts in Swansea on January 4.
