MORE than 200 people packed into the Knighton Hotel car park on December 26 to witness the annual Boxing Day Teme Valley Hunt meeting.

The meet was one of the biggest for many years with around 40 horses present.

This was also the first Boxing Day meet for David Savage in the role as huntsman after taking on the position from his father Roy, who died in May.

David was praised by the masters for taking on the job and doing it so well.

Joint master Frank Bright welcomed everyone to the event and thanked David Savage for taking on the role of huntsman.

Joint master Paul Segrott said he was “really pleased” to see so many people supporting the hunt and also thanked the farmers and landowners for the use of their land.

He also thanked the Knighton Hotel for hosting the meet and said: “With all this support here today long may hunting continue.”

Paul will be stepping down as master at the end of the season and Tim Gunning will be the new master of the hunt with Frank Bright.
