THE Victorian Festival is back on the agenda in Llandrindod after a new committee has formed to save the day.

Six first-time members and a new administrator have stepped in to replace members of the former committee who gave up their positions after this year’s 30th anniversary of the Festival.

The new 10-member committee was elected at the annual meeting and Marie Powell agreed to take on the administrator’s role. Anne Smith was elected chairman for another year but has confirmed it will be her last in the role, although she is likely to remain on the committee beyond next year.
Despite publicising the meeting and fresh pleas for new members, there was not a big turnout, Anne said.

The new committee consists of Anne Smith, Sue Spoonley, Paul Prince, as well as six new members including Mike and Marie Powell, Dr Alan and Barbara Parton, Phil Spoonley, Carrie Latham and Councillor Sarah Millington.
In the New Year the committee is set to look at the programme and see where they can include some new events, although they have yet to find sources of funding.

Anne paid tribute to the work of Sheila and Ken Richards for all the work they have done over the years and thanked them for their excellent contributions, as Sheila stepped down as administrator this year. Both Sheila and Ken remain Friends of the Festival.
