SOLDIER Adam Jones will spend Christmas on the front line in Afhanistan but his family made sure he did not miss out.
They gave Adam, 21, from Rhyl, a real festive treat when he came home on leave and celebrated Christmas a month early!
Adam, who serves with the Royal Engineers, was treated to a full Christmas Day celebration by his family last Friday, November 25, which included presents, meeting up with friends and family and a traditional Christmas dinner.
Adam said: “It’s really nice, I only arrived back yesterday I know it’s early but I’m glad to be having Christmas here. We always spend Christmas Day well, I’ve been into town with a few friends for some drinks and then I’ll come home for tea later.”
The early festivities were planned by Adam’s mother, Francine, who was delighted to celebrate her Christmas Day with her son.
She said: “When he went out there he said he wouldn’t be home for Christmas, but about two weeks ago he told us he was coming home for R & R, so I decided we would be having Christmas as soon as he’s home.”
Adam returns to Afghanistan in two weeks and said he was enjoying his time with the armed forces, despite missing out on Christmas this year.
He said: “It’s been fantastic. I’m working there as an arms storeman, looking after weapons. It’s a really good experience, but as as it’s my first tour there’s a lot to take in.”
“I don’t know what we’ll be doing on Chrsitmas Day, we’ll have a Christmas dinner, but I don’t think it’ll be as good as my mum’s.”
