LLANSANTFFRAID Village manager Ray Jones has warned of repercussions if there is any repeat of this week’s tapping up row with Berriew.
Injured Saints midfielder Simon Edwards was the subject of an alleged illegal approach from newly installed Berriew manager Mike Barton.
The incident sparked anger from Llansantffraid Village manager Ray Jones who has had a turbulent start to his reign after resuming the role following Jamie Davies resignation last week.
Jones fumed: “Managing a club is hard enough without players being illegally approached.
“I am not happy and have spoken to Mike about this.
“At this point we are not considering further action but any repeats and I would definitely support making an official complaint to the Football Association of Wales.”
Jones insisted transfers must be completed through the proper channels.
“If a club wants to put seven days notice on a player then by all means they should do so but only through official channels between clubs.
“The rule is there to prevent wholesale raids on clubs and in that aspect I think the rule is very important.”
The Saints have lost a host of players this season but Jones insisted his club was happy to deal with any club if it had done the paperwork.
“Earlier in the season we lost Iain Edmunds to Caersws who were impeccable throughout the transfer.
“They gave us notice of approach, talked to the player and completed the transfer as per the rules.”
Jones also hit back at Barton’s calls to modernise the transfer regulations and end the seven day ruling.
“If people do not like it or do not feel it works anymore then fine,” said Jones. “I would suggest they approach the Central Wales FA or FAW to try and get it changed rather than break the rule regardless.”
Meanwhile Barton was adamant that he was innocent of the allegations.
However the former Welshpool, Caersws and Guilsfield manager revealed his disdain for the seven day ruling.
“Nowadays people communicate via text messages and social networks,” said Barton. “If a player wants to leave a club then he will find a way.”
Barton has begun his rebuilding job at Berriew having lost Neil Pryce and midfield favourite Mark Probert to Spar Mid Wales League One rivals Montgomery Town.
Striker Ross Harris arrives from the opposite direction alongside former Guilsfield striker Mattie Newton.
Meanwhile defender Dave Roberts has signed from Waterloo Rovers with George Clifton signing from Welshpool.
