FIRST Minister Carwyn Jones has officially opened the headquarters of a Flintshire firm responsible for a non-stick chewing gum.
Revolymer’s new base at Deeside Industrial Park was opened by Mr Jones during a visit yesterday.
The company, which received Welsh Government financial support, developed the chewing gum, Rev7, which can be removed from most surfaces.
It uses technology developed by Revolymer allowing it to be extracted from clothes and streets using just soap and water.
Mr Jones said: “I am delighted to be opening this new headquarters for Revolymer, which confirms the company’s continued commitment to Wales.
“Revolymer is offering high quality jobs which are vital to both the local economy and the economy of the country as a whole.
“Revolymer is going from strength to strength, despite the tough economic climate and shows how Wales can host world class commercial research and development.
“I am proud the Welsh Government has been able to support the expansion and wish them all the best for the future.”
The firm has moved to Deeside from its former home at Mostyn Dock to allow it to expand its operations and develop products in healthcare, cosmetics, detergents, coatings and adhesives.
The Welsh Government worked with the company to establish the business in Wales and provided financial support to help create 30 highly skilled research and development jobs, many of whom are post-doctoral organic and polymer chemists.
Revolymer chief executive Roger Pettman said: “Revolymer has grown substantially in the past six years but remains committed to North Wales, so we are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to move to such an advanced new site within Flintshire.
“With a developing product portfolio and the projected launch of Rev7 in the UK next year, these are exciting times.”
