LLANDRINIO Football Club have been formed from the ashes of Forden, who faced extinction following a row over their ground.
The relocation brings to an end a troubled start to life for the club, which played just a handful of games in Forden before being evicted by the community council.
The council compromise of a nearby pitch for development was also rejected by the newly formed club due to financial constraints.
However now the club can look ahead after an 11th hour rescue deal saw them relocate to Llandrinio, which has been unrepresented in the Montgomeryshire League since the demise of Defaid Du two years ago.
League secretary Bernie Jones described the news as a “victory for football” and backed the new club to succeed.
“It is great news for the club, the Montgomeryshire League and the village of Llandrinio,” said Jones. “Nobody wanted to see the club disappear completely, which was a very real danger after the club was left without a ground just two weeks into the season.
“Now the club can enjoy their football with the facilities already in place at the excellent Llandrinio ground, while it also means the Montgomeryshire League has retained a valued member.
“It is important to remember the Montgomeryshire League is in the business of encouraging people to be involved in organised football and the new location in Llandrinio will allow the club to flourish.
“I am also thrilled that a traditional venue is once again represented and encourage locals to go along and watch their new club.”
