The British Isles consists of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
As its an Island, just like Iceland and New Zealand for example, you would guess that the national football team would be great Britain.
However, this is not the case, this issue that we should play as Great Britain has been brought up many times. It would bring all the countries of Great Britain together as one.
There is a bit of friction between the fans of the different Great Britain countries and bringing them together to support one team could stop the hatred that some deluded fans possess and instead bring them together.
This idea is greatly accepted by England as they see the benefits in bringing Great Britain together.
Sadly, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland disagree, they seem to think that it would effect there independence.
I dont really understand why they feel this way, everyone in Great Britain, regardless of if they were born in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland are still British. .
Therefore we surely should partake in sport together. It pains me to see that the other countries of Britain do not want to join England.
The only real reason I can gather is to why they don’t want to join together is because of how successful England have been, in comparitive terms.
Maybe they feel that by joining England, even though they will be more successful, they dont want to be successful with England as they want to gain success alone without England.
Is that jealousy of England? Are they jealous of how successful England have been and therefore do not want to join England? Is there any other reason?
I am very proud to be British. I was born in Shrewsbury, England, but I class myself as British.
If I was born in Wales I would think the same, if i was born in Scotland I would feel the same, If I was born in Northern Ireland I would feel the same.
We need to come together as one to be the best we can be, together, as one, as Great Britain.
