BERNARD McNally has urged Newtown fans to keep their feet on the ground ahead of their derby clash at Aberystwyth Town this evening (Friday).

The Robins 1-0 victory at Carmarthen Town last weekend raised expectations on his new look young side.

“It was a great display at Carmarthen, particularly as the club had not won at that ground in seven years.

“Several lads grabbed their opportunity with both hands and on this evidence we can be optimistic ahead of the remainder of the campaign.

“However I would ask all Newtown fans not to raise the level of expectation too high as I am sure we will have our share of ups and downs this season.”

McNally licked his licks at the prospect of his first Mid Wales derby and insisted confidence in the camp was high.

“If we can get a point at Aberystywth then I will be over the moon. Anything else would be a huge bonus.

“We go to Aberystwyth with a healthy respect for our hosts but optimistic we can get a result.”
