THE newest names in the Montgomeryshire football scene begin life next week.

Newly formed Newtown Wanderers are joined by fellow newcomers Forden in Mitsubishi Division Two of the J T Hughes Montgomeryshire League.

Both clubs have endured turbulent summers with Wanderers forced to appeal for players while Forden were formed amidst the troubles at nearby Welshpool.

Both will take their place in the Montgomeryshire League second division next weekend.

Three other new sides will be also running sides in the Montgomeryshire League second division with Newtown, Abermule and Four Crosses entering their reserve sides.

Honda Division Two will run with 12 clubs next season after no clubs were relegated with Bettws and Churchstoke handed reprieves.

Llanidloes Town, Llansanffraid Village Reserves and Llanrhaeadr have seen their reserve sides promoted following successful seasons in Mitsubishi Division Two respectively.

League secretary Bernie Jones said: “It is good to have a Forden club back and equally good news that Newtown is now represented at Montgomeryshire League level once more.

“Membership is up on last season and we are all expecting another exciting season of football.

“On behalf of the league and existing clubs I welcomes the new clubs into the fold and wish them every success.”
