Richard Bott scored his second win of the season at Rhyl's Marsh Tracks last week in the latest instalment of the Graham Weigh Cycles Series.

A 30 minute solo effort by Raleigh RT's Conan Mayman that asked some questions of the chasing pack came to an end with 20 minutes of the hour long race to go, and despite some further spirited riding, notably by Rhos-On-Sea CC's Gareth Bowyer and Justin McIlveen and VC Melyd's Colby Kneale and Tom Jones, it was a surprise attack with 500 metres to go by the Ellesmere Port elite rider that did the trick.

Bott crossed the line four bike lengths clear of Matt Limacher (Maxgear RT) with Dan Evans (Rhos-On-Sea CC) in third.

Newly promoted from the youth ranks, Rhyl CC's Gerallt Allen, 16, rode excellently in the quality field to take 10th place, just ahead of former British track sprint medallist Paul Harvey (Rhos-On-Sea CC).

In the youth handicap race the two U12 riders Sol Kerfoot-Robson (Rhos-On-Sea CC) and Twm Bryn (Llyn CC) just held off a trio of Rhyl CC U14 riders, Alex Harvey, Morgan Hughes and Dave Tudor in an exciting finale with Robson taking the win.
Several North Wales riders were also in action at the top UK MTB level at Richmond, North Yorkshire, on Sunday in the 2011 British Mountain Bike Championships.

Coed Llandegla regular Sally Gabriel (One Planet Adventure) was ninth in the Senior Female category to young winner Annie Last (Boardman Elite), completing the course in 2 hours 9 minutes 16 seconds compared to the 1hrs 44min 13sec of the victor. Rhyl postman Tim Buckley (VC Melyd) came in 42nd with a time of 2hrs 3min 10sec in the Senior Mens category, as new champion Liam Killeen (Giant) finishing in 1hrs 35min 32sec.

Rhos-On-Sea CC's Dylan Kefoot-Robson took 9th place in the Youth category to Stuart Wilcox (Innerleithen MTB Racing/ i-Cycles) and still has another year in the category to progress still further, and CBM Dyffryn Conwy's Joe and Sarah Barnwell were 21st in the Juvenile category and 6th in the Veteran Womens respectively.
