A MUCH-LOVED horse with an army of fans has been sharing his exploits online.

Welsh cob Tog, one of the star attractions at Llangollen Wharf, has just launched his own Facebook page and has already reined in more than 100 friends.

On the site the 13-year-old skewbald coloured horse shares his thoughts on the day-to-day life of a working horse.

Tog, who is responsible for pulling along the 37-seater four-tonne narrowboats, says he “loves working at the Wharf” but isn’t to keen on the rain.

He posted: “What a wet horrible day, I’m off back to the field now for a roll in the mud.”

And he has even been boasting about his soaring popularity.

He said: “Can’t believe how many visitors I’ve had at the Wharf today and can’t believe how many friends I have on Facebook  so quickly.

“My horsey friends who work with me at the Wharf – Stan, Geordie and Taff – are so jealous, I’ve always told them I’m top horse. Now I’ve proved it.”

Tog’s Facebook  page is the brainchild of Llangollen Wharf director Steve Furniss who has been amazed by Tog’s popularity at the tourist attraction.

The horse captured the hearts of visitors after being rescued from the slaughter house.

A spokesman for the Wharf said: “Tog is the first horse at the Wharf to get his own Facebook  page. We chose him because he is so special because he was rescued. He talks about the day in the life of a working horse because he lives the life of Riley really.

“He is definitely one of the favourites with visitors at the Wharf because he is such a big softie and he has the most wonderful moustache.

“He’s such a beautiful, placid character – he’s an absolute darling.”

Tog posed for his first profile pictures while he was shod by farrier James Taylor of Dudleston Heath, Ellesmere, and his fans even flocked to watch. The spokesman added: “There must have been about a dozen people turn up to see him being shod and they wanted to have their photo taken with him – we couldn’t believe it.

“And we didn’t expect the facebook  page to be so popular at all – it’s amazing.”
Tog is one of four Welsh Cobs at the Wharf including Stan 19, Geordie,18, and Taff 13.
