LLANIDLOES Town have completed a double transfer coup to underline their Spar Mid Wales League Division One title credentials.
The Daffodils have snapped up striker Jamie Breese from Newtown and former Caersws midfielder Karl Seliaerts from Bow Street.
The club have also welcomed the return of striker Barry Bellis after missing the second half of last season, while midfielder Gareth Mansell has also committed for next season.
Assistant manager Peter Jones hopes the new signings will help provide the springboard for a consolidated push for the title and promotion to the Huws Gray Alliance.
“Jamie is highly rated and we were looking at him last season before he signed for Welshpool,” said Jones. “He is a bright prospect and we are delighted to bring him to Victoria Avenue, where we are confident he will turn out to play a major role next season.
“Karl is also someone who has played at a higher level having represented Caersws last season and he provides another attacking option.”
Jones also hopes the returning Bellis can re-produce the form of last season when the 23-year-old formed a fruitful forward partnership with Gregg Brown prior to quitting in January.
“We all know Barry is a quality player and he was keen to come back this season and pick up where he left off last season,” said Jones.
The Daffodils have also retained former Newtown and Presteigne midfielder Mansell, while last season’s top goalscorer Brown has joined player of the season Rhys Jones in handing the Victoria Avenue faithful a boost by committing for another season.
“Although Llanidloes Town is still a draw for players we appreciate the importance of continuing to develop our own talent and continue to give them chances in the first team.”
Meanwhile Jones warned the Daffodils pre-season strengthening will inevitably make them a scalp next season.
“Teams always come to Llanidloes and raise their game,” said Jones. “I am sure it will be no different next season when teams will be looking to claim our scalp.
“It will be a really tough league next season, but it is a challenge the squad and everyone at Llanidloes Town Football Club is looking forward to.
“We hope to challenge but we know that Rhayader Town will be keen to bounce back to the Alliance at the first attempt, while we will face a big test on the opening day when we host Welshpool.”
