BALA Town’s third season at Welsh Premier League level will begin against one of the most successful clubs in the league’s history.

Colin Caton’s charges will begin their campaign with a testing trip to last season’s runners-up The New Saints on Friday, August 12.

The first match of the season at Maes Tegid is versus Carmarthen Town on Saturday, August 20, while the return match against The New Saints is on Friday, October 14.

Bala’s first meeting with defending champions Bangor City is at Maes Tegid on Sunday, October 2, with the Farrar Road meeting being played on Friday, December 9.

The first half of the season ends with a festive double-header with Airbus UK Broughton.

Bala are the home side on Boxing Day, while The Airfield is the setting for the second clash on January 2.

Meanwhile, Bala are continuing to strengthen their squad ahead of the big kick-off and the latest acquisition is former Hearts and Wrexham player Conall Murtagh.

The Northern Irish midfielder joins from Aberystwyth Town after a loan spell with them from The New Saints.

The 25-year-old began his career at Ballymena United, followed by a spell at Crusaders before moving to Hearts in 2003.

He joined Raith Rovers on loan before making the move to Connah's Quay in 2005.
Murtagh has also appeared for Rhyl and Wrexham, where he played part time while doing a degree in Manchester University.
