A PAIR of abandoned dogs who have been left homeless for more than a year desperately need new owners, say animal workers.
Chester and Wirral RSPCA branch is looking for homes for two of its long term dogs, that came to the centre via the inspectors and had behavioural or socialisation problems.
Animal care manager, Kay Hawthorn, said that such dogs can spend a long time in kennels while staff look to train or retrain them to adjust such behaviour.
This work is now complete and these dogs are ready for rehoming, said Kaye.
Ben, a three-year-old wire haired Jack Russell cross and three-year-old Bonnie, a black Labrador cross need help.
Kaye, who is based at the Wallasey animal centre, said: “While we look to rehome dogs on a permanent basis, we recognise that not everyone wants to, or is able to take on the long term commitment that this requires, so we also have a need for fosterers.
“These are people that are willing to help out by offering a home to a dog or cat that doesn’t easily settle into a kennel or cattery environment, may need cage rest after an injury or caring for a cat with young kittens until they are old enough to be rehomed.
“This can be for a period of one to three months duration while we look to rehome them to a permanent home.
“As such situations arise spasmodically, we are looking to build up a bank of potential fosters that we can call upon as the need arises.”

The Animal Centre in Cross Lane, Wallasey, is open every day (except Thursday) between 11.30am and 3.15pm.
The RSPCA branch will also hold their Dog Show and Summer Fair which on Sunday, July 17, from 11am to 3pm.
