THE parents of a teenager who died in Llanidloes last weekend have spoken of their devastation at his loss.

Lewis Clarke, 18, of Newtown, was rushed to hospital by Air Ambulance after being found unconscious in a flat in Llanidloes on Saturday, July 2.

He was pronounced dead later that day at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

At a police press conference in Newtown officers read statements from Lewis' father Sean Clarke and his mother Gale Morris.

They told how the family have been struggling to come to terms with the shocking loss.

Mr Clarke and Mrs Morris both paid tribute to a determined boy with a passion for music and acting.

Mr Clarke said: "We as a family are absolutely heartbroken at the loss of our Lewis. We are obviously very shocked and sickened and struggling to come to terms with his death.

"He was much loved by many people and we were all very proud of him."

Lewis' mother said she had been left devastated by the loss of her son.

She said: "We as a family are devastated by the loss of Lewis. He was a well loved boy with a passion for music and acting.

"He was looking forward to joining the navy in November. His determination in life was amazing."

Extracts from Lewis' Facebook profile were also released which paint the picture of a talented young man looking forward a bright future.

One extract read: "Nothing makes me happier than listening to a song with real meaning. I also discovered I have a passion for acting. The school I was in had an acting agency and I had several minor roles but nothing major. I would love to pursue a career in the business but as you know it's not that easy."
