POLICE have been granted a further 36 hours to question a man following Llanidloes murder.

Police in Powys were in court this morning and were granted an extension to question a man in relation to the murder of an 18 year old man in Llanidloes on Saturday.

The 20 year old will now be detained for a further 36 hours for questioning by detectives.

Lewis Clarke, from Newtown, died in Shrewsbury Hospital on Saturday evening.

He had been airlifted to hospital following an incident in a flat in Plynlimon House, Long Bridge Street, Llanidloes, just before noon on Saturday.

The property remains cordoned off and inquiries are continuing.

DCI Shane Williams who is leading the investigation, is once again appealing for witnesses to come forward.

He said: "Although we have made an arrest we are still keen to speak to anyone who has information that could help the investigation into the tragic death of this young person.

"We would especially like to speak to anyone who was in the flat yesterday morning or who has knowledge of any incident which happened there at that time.”

If anyone has information they can contact the police incident room on 101 (01267 202020 outside Dyfed Powys) or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
