A FORMER teacher accused of drinking wine in a primary school has spoken to the County Times about her ‘year of hell’.

Penny Haddon was suspended from teaching following an inquiry by the General Teaching Council in April, which ruled that she had drunk wine in school but had not been under its influence.

Now, the former Trefonnen Primary School teacher has spoken out about the effect it has had on her life and career.

“I didn’t actually do anything wrong,” said Penny, whose career as a deputy head and special needs teacher spans 20 years.

“For the parents, teachers and pupils I have taught, I want them to know what really happened.”

The County Times reported the outcome of the inquiry on April 22, where former colleagues alleged that Mrs Haddon had drunk wine at the Llandrindod Wells school on two separate occasions.
