LLANRHAEADR 1
RHEWL 4
PART one of a derby double-header comfortably went the way of in-form Rhewl.
Two goals in each half did the trick for Pete Lloyd’s young charges, who strengthened their hand in the race for a top-three finish.
And the two teams are to become familiar opponents, with Rhewl playing host to Llanrhaeadr in a rearranged Summer League meeting this Friday night at 7pm.
Praising Rhewl’s display, Rhewl boss Pete Lloyd was a happy man after seeing his side stretch their unbeaten run to six matches, while the result gave Rhewl only their second win away from home this season.
“We deserved the 4-1,” he said.
Llanrhaeadr were without spot kick expert Chris Williams, while influential midfielder Kevin Evans had to don the gloves and play in goal, despite suffering from injury.
The first half went the way of the visitors as they built up a two-goal lead by the break.
Dion Lloyd gave Rhewl the lead, before influential midfielder Anthony Marshall doubled his side’s money.
Llan gave a good display on the night and they were finally rewarded for their efforts when Sion Davies played a through ball and top scorer hit it early to beat impressive keeper Bryn Jones.
Any hopes of a home comeback were quickly dashed, though, as substitute Iolo Hughes centred for Martin Jones to head home.
And Rhewl managed to add a fourth for good measure with sub Harri Owen on the scoresheet.
Other decent Rhewl chances fell to Endaf Jones and Owen, and goalkeeper Bryn Jones was the home side’s star man.
Youngster Osian Davies was one of Llanrhaeadr’s star players for his display in the middle of the park, while Sion Davies also caught the eye.
