A CON artist posing as a workman in the Llanidloes area could be targetting residents, police have warned.

Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident on the Tan-yr-Rhallt estate where an elderly woman was deceived of money by an unknown man, purporting to be a workman.

The bogus male, described as white, around 50 years of age, over six-feet in height and of stocky build, entered the woman’s house between 4.30pm and 5pm on Thursday, June 2.

While inside the property he tricked the woman into giving him money for work to be carried out the following week, and left a calling card with false details on it.

People are urging the general public and especially elderly residents to be on their guard against such cold-callers in the area.

If you see anyone who appears to be suspicious, contact the police on the non-emergency number 101 or call 0845 330 2000.
