POLICE are this morning resuming their hunt for two suspects following a bank theft in Machynlleth yesterday Thursday, May 19.
The theft of a quantity of cash from a guard working for a private security van happened shortly before 11.45am at the entrance to Barclays Bank in Heol Pentrerhedyn, Machynlleth.
One man was arrested a short while following the incident. He is now being questioned by police. And the money taken has now been recovered.
The two men were last seen in the Welshpool area, having abandoned a second get-away vehicle close to the town's Flash Leisure Centre. The last sightings placed them in the Gungrog Hill area of town, on foot.
"We are still looking for two further suspects, both white men," said Detective Chief Inspector Shane Williams. "We are appealing for anyone who saw these men in the vicinity of the Flash Leisure Centre and Gungrog Hill in Welshpool between 12.30pm and 5pm on Thursday to come forward and contact police on 101.
"Their general appearance is believed to be smart, and in their mid 20s
"We still have officers in the area searching for these two white men, who are believed to still be on foot, I would ask any members of the public who may see them not to approach them but to contact us and use 999."
