CAPTAIN Jonathan Davies scored a second-half hat-trick of tries to cement Machynlleth’s second division status for another year.

Relegation rivals Wrexham had little answer as Davies powered over for three tries to sentence them to an end of season relegation play-off with Division Three champions Menai Bridge.

The sides were level at the break, with tries from wing Aled Jones, hooker Hedd Griffiths and centre Wyn Blockley with outside-half Iwan Jones adding a conversion.

Wrexham replied with tries from prop Dave Gard, wing Mike Jones and centre Jack Ratcliffe, who also added one conversion.

After the break it was all one way traffic with Davies marking his promotion to captain for the day with three tries.

Full-back Steffan Price and No8 Dylan Llewellyn also crossed for a brace of tries, with wing Aled Jones adding his second of the day.

Iwan Jones kicked four conversions.
