FANCY yourself as a budding Michael or Emily Eavis? Want to get experience of putting on your own event and making a difference while you’re at it?
Macmillan Cancer Support has come up with the perfect opportunity. For the last two years, the charity has hosted the metropolitan music festival The Big Mix, which showcases the best up-and-coming musicians and bands – but now they want to give everyone a turn at being an impresario for the night.
So whether you’re into music, fashion, comedy or art, Macmillan are inviting you to put your planning skills where your passion is and hold your own ‘Mini Mix’ event with their support.
Alex Blair, organiser of Macmillan’s Big Mix, said: “This is your chance to be involved in something big. We have put together all the materials you need to help you throw the best event you can imagine. We’ve even got industry professionals on hand to give advice, an online community to swap ideas and some fantastic prizes to give away.”
Mini Mix hosts who raise the most money are in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets to Bestival or one of five pairs of tickets to the mother event - Macmillan’s Big Mix.
Alex added: “Putting on a Mini Mix is the perfect way for young people to get experience organising events too - and to raise money for charity while they’re at it. It’s a winner for your CV so whatever you’re into, get your show on the road for Macmillan. Whether it raises £5000 or £50, your fundraising can change lives…Be part of it.”
Volunteers can put on an event anytime from now until Sunday, June 12. For more information on putting on a Mini Mix and to register for your starter pack visit www.macmillan.org.uk/minimix. Early bird tickets for the Big Mix festival, to be held in Shoreditch, London on Saturday, June 18, are now on sale too. More information, including a list of the acts, will be released soon but for now you can check out the event at www.facebook.com/thebigmix. Tickets are available for the cut price of £15 for a limited time only via www.thebigmix.co.uk.
All proceeds go to help Macmillan continue to provide vital services which help make a real difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.
