Builth Wells 26 Aberavon Quins 23

BUILTH almost did the unimaginable as Aberavon Quins stormed back into contention, only for the Bulls to anxiously hold their nerve.

Youngster Eliott Parker proved the difference between the sides, with the wing crossing for a brace of tries as Builth established a healthy lead.

Further tries from prop Jim Healy and No8 Huw Thomas, with three conversions from Rob Lloyd, saw Builth in a commanding position at 26-6.

Both penalties for the Quins were converted by full-back Marc Sheppard.
However after the break the Quins’ hopes of a comeback were raised with flanker Liam Puckett charging 30 metres to crash over.

A further try from wing Steve Colarusso saw the Quins further close the gap, before a try from hooker James Davies reduced the deficit to three points.

Aberavon battered the home line with Builth hanging on grimly for victory.
Outgoing coach Jeremy Pugh said: “The game was won yet we still almost managed to throw it all away in the second-half, which was very disappointing.

“There were some outstanding displays from the young lads, with Elliott Parker not overawed at all.

“However we almost paid a heavy price for our forwards treating the game like a touch rugby match in the second-half and we must look to end the season with a more convincing display against BP.”

BUILTH: Healy, R Beehan, Taylor, A Duggan, Morris, Bastable, B Duggan, Pugh, R Davies, Lloyd, S Beehan, Powell, Parker, G Davies, Garrod. Reps - Morgan, Price, Bayliss, Gideon
