NEWTOWN midfielder Shane Sutton says the club face their two biggest games of the season as they look to secure their Welsh Premier future.

Newtown host Aberystwyth Town this weekend (Saturday, 2.30pm) knowing that six points from their next two games would ensure their league status for next season.

Sutton said: “It’s a huge game, we need the points and we need two wins to make sure we’re playing Premier League football next season. They’re the most important two games of the season.”

Sutton said the mood in the camp is positive and the squad are confident they have what it takes to survive.

He said: “We’re pretty confident. Last time we played Aber at home we battered them but didn’t get the win, we just need to take that into Saturday’s game.”

He added: “I feel like personally I play better under pressure, but we just need to make sure we can all do it on Saturday. A few of us are already looking forward to next season so we are just hoping we are still in the Welsh Premier League.”

Meanwhile assistant manager Lee Williams has called on his side to put the pressure on relegation rivals Bala Town by taking all three points from the clash with the Seasiders.

The Robins are currently in a precarious position with two games left to play. Six points would assure them of survival and with them hosting Aberystwyth Town this Saturday Bala could find themselves in the position of needing to win on Sunday to have any chance of staying up.

Williams said the side have a clean bill of health going into the match and they will be looking to leave Bala having no option but to win.

He said: “We are in the position where we can apply a bit of pressure this weekend rather than being the other way round. If we win, they have to win.”

To put themselves in that position Williams says it is vital that his side get a result against Aber.

He said: “It’s always a tough game in fairness to them, they have done well this season. They’re in the top half of the table and they have had a good run which puts them safe in seventh or eighth.

“They’re a difficult side and they score goals but up until now, touch wood, we have not lost to them.

“We have just got to go and do what we do, try and play football. The lads know what’s expected of them and the importance of the game. We have got to go and try and get a win and if not make sure we don’t lose. That would take us minimum to the last game of the season.”
