NEWTOWN crashed to their heaviest defeat of the season as the Bala juggernaut continued to hurtle toward promotion to the first division.

The home side ran in nine tries, with 41 of their points scored by the outstanding Rhydian Jones.

Jones set the ball rolling in the opening few minutes with a successful penalty attempt, before a try from Geraint Rowlands opened the floodgates.

Bala continued to press forward and Jones bagged a further four first half tries to move 39-0 in front by the break.

Bala added a further four tries in the second period to run away with the points and maintain the form, which has seen them notch 158 points in just three matches.

Ilan Rowlands, Tudur Lynch and Sion Lynch crossed for Bala’s remaining tries with man of the match Rhydian Jones landing the conversions as Newtown reflected on their worst performance of the season.
