Quiet confidence in Welsh camp ahead of a huge game

WELL it's been a busy few weeks but after a long pre-season we have started our season - and it got off to a great start.

We played and beat Seattle Sounders by a goal to nil at home on Saturday night in front of more than 22,000 fans. Full credit must go to the boys who worked their socks off, but I must also pay credit to the fans who sang non-stop for 90 minutes in our home opener.

After playing in England for over 12 years, to see crowds like I saw on Saturday makes me feel happy and reminds me of being at home! Passion is there and our supporters show that in abundance.

What is important is that we always give them something to shout about every week.

This week's away game in Colombus will be a huge test as we have six players missing through international matches as the league here does not stop on international dates. There is some debate over this as teams get penalised for having internationals and the fans don't get to see the best players always!

While talking internationals, what a game ahead this weekend in Cardiff! The match that every Welsh player dreams about is here as we are set to face the English in our own back yard!

I know the atmosphere will be electric and I really do hope that the boys perform in what could be a huge occassion.

A lot has been written in the lead up to tha game but I know that Speedo will have the boys fired up and all the preparation done down to a tee. It's a football match and on any day anyone can win, but this isn't just a football match, it's against England. I'm sure the boys will do the country proud, and after speaking to the lads in camp this week there is a quiet confidence!

This really could be a fantastic few weeks for Welsh football. If we manage to get a result against England and Swansea and Cardiff go on to gain promotion to the Premiership, it'll be party time in Wales!

Lastly, I am so excited as next week my family comes to join me after receiving their visas for the next two years. It's been hard on Laura over the past 12 weeks looking after the kids alone - but that's why you need a good woman in your life, and I've definitely got one!
