GAMERS with a need for speed with be getting their adrenaline fix this month when the latest instalment of the MotoGP series gets its PS3 and Xbox360 release.

Boasting a new handling system and improved physics, the popular franchise builds on previous incarnations to offer a detailed and accurate race sim.

But this is no 'pick up and play' game.

Total beginners are given a helping hand with a plethora of 'assists', but it will still take a few laps to get to grips with steering into challenging corners and treacherous hairpins.

However, it is when the security measures are disabled the fun - and skill - comes through; where even a feather-lite tap on the breaks at the wrong time can result in a bone-crunching skid across the tarmac.

Simple to navigate menus reduce waiting time and five game modes ranging from straight championships and time trials through to online play (for up to 20 players) ensure plenty of repeat playability.

Although MotoGP is ideal for bike racing enthusiasts, track-looping may get monotonous for those more akin to the diversity of Mario Kart than serious sims.
But it still marks a highly-tuned upgrade to the series.
