A HOLIDAYMAKER was found hanged from a tree overlooking the river in Berriew on Sunday morning.

Mr Stephen Clarke was staying at his in-laws’ caravan at Maes Yr Afon Caravan Park in Berriew over the weekend.

He was seen by other tourists at the site having a cigarette overlooking the river at 8am on Sunday, August 29, but by 9am his body was discovered.

Police are looking into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Stephens, but it is not being treated as suspicious.

Mr Clark was staying at the park on his own at the time of the tragedy, although his wife was due to meet-up with him later in the week.

Both the next of kin and the Powys Coroner have been informed.

Maes Yr Afon Caravan Park is situated in a quiet woodland valley along both banks of the River Rhiew, two miles from the attractive village of Berriew.
