A feasibility study of using the derelict tennis courts near the Pavilion and private ground – which is currently used for the town's Friday market for pay and display parking – is to be investigated by Powys County Council.
This follows the recent joint meeting of local community and town councils which raised the problem of the shortage of parking in the Spa town. Councillors from Llandrindod Wells Town Council, Disserth and Trecoed, Llanyre and Llanbadarn Fynydd Commu
nity Councils raised the shortage of parking during their inaugural joint meeting.

In a letter to each of the councils represented Richard Hobbs, the highways and transportation manager of Powys County Council, said he had asked for the feasibility of using the land for pay and display parking to be investigated.

The joint councils had also asked about the potential for a multi storey car park to be erected in the town, but Mr Hobbs advised them in his letter that Powys County Council did not have the capital funding required to construct such a facility and the charges that would have to be levied to repay any loans would be far in excess of current charges.

His letter goes on to say that in most larger towns where multi storey car parks exist they have been constructed by investment companies and are managed on a 15-minute time charge basis with payment on exit. In many towns the car park charges can be up to £10 for a four-hour day.
Local business people in Llandrindod Wells also are very concerned over the parking problem in the town, especially with the loss of a number of parking spaces.
