THE following musical events are being held in the area over the coming seven days.
Friday, October 3

TONY SKEGGS, LUKE DAY & NEAL BUTLER, live music at the new Workhouse indoor venue at LLANFYLLIN.

Saturday, October 4

BACK ROAD HOME, featuring songs by Brian Copsey who has been receiving much accolade of late backed by the
best rhythm section around Tommy Mills and George Jackson, at the Three Tuns, BISHOPS CASTLE.

ZU2, U2 tribute band at Theatr Brycheiniog, BRECON.
Also at ABERYSTWYTH Arts Centre on Sunday October 5.

TERRAFOLK, Slovene band on UK tour of venues under threat of closure, play at the Wyeside Arts Centre, BUILTH WELLS. Terrafolk played here some years back and are keen to see it stay alive so other bands can perform to its lively local audience.

LLANUWCHLLYN MIXED CHOIR, with conductor Mary Lloyd Davies in concert at LLANRHAEADR-YM-MOCHNANT Public Hall at 7.30pm.

MONTEVERDI VESPERS OF 1610, the great baroque work staged by the Armonico Concert Orchestra and Chorus at SHREWSBURY Abbey for the Shropshire Music Trust's 25th anniversary concert.

Sunday, October 5

BILLY COBHAM & ASERE, the drumming legend with the pioneering band at Theatr Brycheiniog, BRECON.

Monday, October 6

FFONIC, community world music band meets for sociable music making on Monday evenings at NEWTOWN, Celebrating their eighth anniversary this autumn by raising money for the charity Water Aid, with a ceilidh at LLANDINAM Village Hall, on Saturday, October 18. OPEN MIC NIGHT, new singers and acoustic music welcome at The Horseshoe Inn, RATLINGHOPE.

Tuesday, October 7

JAM SESSION, with all musicians welcome every Tuesday from 9pm at the Black Boy Hotel, NEWTOWN.

BORDER FOLK COMMUNITY NIGHTS, musicians and singers welcome at weekly sessions from 9pm at The Grapes, NEWTOWN.

RHAYADER JAM, session at The Cornhill Inn every Tuesday from 8pm for all performers. Check with the pub first on 01597 810029.

STEVE WINWOOD. guitar legend from Traffic among other top bands plays live at WOLVERHAMPTON Wulfrun Hall.

Wednesday, October 8

BRECON SOUNDS GREAT, host of local performers including the Westenders theatre group, bluegrass, big bands, young farmers and members of the emergency services, at Theatr Brycheiniog, BRECON, raising money for local schools and fire and police welfare funds.

ACOUSTIC SESSIONS, informal folk, blues and jazz every Wednesday from 8.30pm at the Red Lion, LLANIDLOES. Musicians welcome.

LIVE JAZZ, informal music sessions with local musicians at the Dragon Hotel, MONTGOMERY, from 9pm on Wednesdays.

COR MERCHED MALDWYN, the Montgomeryshire Ladies Choir, weekly rehearsals at NEWTOWN Evangelical Church at 7.30pm. MADDY PRIOR: BACK TO THE TRADITION, Steeleye Span's long time vocalist returns to her roots with tour accompanied by Bellowhead band members Benji Kirkpatrick and Giles Lewin, tonight, at SHREWSBURY Music Hall.
Also coming to Theatr Llwyn, LLANFYLLIN, on Monday, October 13.

Thursday, October 9
