THE following musical events are being held in the area over the coming seven days.
Friday, November 14

DAEMONIA, rare UK performance by Italian horror film composer Claudio simonetti's band at ABERYSTWYTH Arts Centre as part of Abertoir Horror Festival on to November 16 with film scvreenings, guests and events.

PENYBONT FAWR
MALE VOICE CHOIR. charity concert at Theatre Llwyn, LLANFYLLIN, with guest soloists Aled Wynn Davies and Linda Griffiths with Glyn Owens as compère. In aid of the Ashley Jolly Sudden Adult Death Trust (SADS UK).

Also at WELSHPOOL Town Hall in Rotary Club concert on Saturday November 22.

BETH PRIOR & SEAN GATE, member of The Daughters and the acoustic guitar vocalist in double bill at the Plough Inn, LLANRHAEADR YM MOCHNANT.

KING PLEASURE & THE BISCUIT BOYS, one of the most popular jazz and swing bands in the world play Theatr Hafren, NEWTOWN.

FABULOUS SWAIN BROTHERS< live at the Horseshoe Inn, RATLINGHOPE.

LITTLE RUMBA, classy three piece Presteigne band at Revells restaurant, WELSHPOOL. Featuring Hugh Colvin on saxes, John Hymas on viola, violin and accordion, and Pete Mustill on guitar and vocals, playing world music fusion with the occasional dose of Tom Waits and Randy Newman.

Saturday, November 15

MATT MUNRO JNR, recreates his father's hits along with his own romantic repertoire, at Theatr Brycheiniog, BRECON.

FLAXENBY, timeless, contemporary tilt on folk from one of Shropshire's favourite acoustic bands, at The Sun, CLUN.

COR MERCHED MALDWYN, the Montgomeryshire Ladies Choir, in concert with guest artists at St. Michael's Church, FORDEN in aid of the church repair fund.

BLACK SHEEP WHITE SHEEP, Presteigne's highly regarded and hugely talented youth orchestra, plus Ellethia (Ellen Cox) originally from Rhayader, and the Talbotross acoustic singer songwriter, at the LLANDRINDOD WELLS Drama Centre.

MOCK FROG, acoustic trio plus "Girl Bands of the Thirties" presented by George Marshall and OJ Kryptic, in the first of the Sound Bites season at the Great Oak Cafe, LLANIDLOES. OPEN MIC NIGHT, new singers and acoustic music welcome at The Horseshoe Inn, RATLINGHOPE.

Tuesday, November 18

KATHAKALI, drama, dance, music, visual arts and ritual to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the Kala Chethena Kathakali Theatre Company Indian dance company, featuring legendary Kathakali master Kalamandalam Gopi, at Wyeside Arts Centre, BUILTH WELLS.

Formed in 1987, the company is now the foremost exponent of Kathakali, and this tour offers a rare chance to see such eminent artists perform this exceptional, legendary artform, and experience extraordinary non-western theatre and culture.

RHAYADER JAM, session at The Cornhill Inn every Tuesday from 8pm for all performers.

Wednesday, November 19

ACOUSTIC SESSIONS, informal folk, blues and jazz every Wednesday from 8.30pm at the Red Lion, LLANIDLOES. Musicians welcome.

THE LITTLE BIG TIME BAND, six members of the Ciry of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra at SHREWSBURY Music Hall.

ROBIN IRELAND, virtuoso viola playerand member of the Sorrel Quartet, accompanied by pianist Tim Horton, performs a varied recital of music by Bach, Britten, Schubert, Rebecca Clarke and Prokoviev, on the second concert of the Welshpool Music Club's 66th season. at WELSHPOOL Methodist Church.
