THE following musical events are being held in the area over the coming seven days.
Friday, August 8

SHAYNE PRINCE, Elvis hits and more with food from 7pm at MONTGOMERY Town Hall with proceeds for three charities and retirement party for Doris Andrew (Wright). Call 01743 792343/07876 385819.

Saturday, August 9

CARL JENNINGS
, Country and Western Night at The Royal British Legion Club, PRESTEIGNE.

SIR WILLARD WHITE, explores the repertoire and life story of Paul Robeson in concert at St. Chad's Church. SHREWSBURY.

Sunday, August 10

NEWTOWN MALE VOICE CHOIR, new members welcome at weekly practices at the United Reformed Church on Sundays at 7pm. Contact secretary Enid Morgan on 01686 626894, or any choir member.

Monday, August 11

FFONIC, community folk band meets for sociable music making on Monday evenings at NEWTOWN, playing traditional and new music for community events. Open to instrumentalists of all ages and abilities.

OPEN MIC NIGHT, new singers and acoustic music welcome at The Horseshoe Inn, RATLINGHOPE.

Tuesday, August 12

RHAYADER JAM, session at The Cornhill Inn every Tuesday from 8pm for musicians, writers and comedians. Call 01597 810029.

Wednesday, August 13

ACOUSTIC SESSIONS, informal folk, blues and jazz every Wednesday from 8.30pm at the Red Lion, LLANIDLOES. Musicians welcome.

LIVE JAZZ, informal music sessions with local musicians at the Dragon Hotel, MONTGOMERY, from 9pm on Wednesdays.

Thursday, August 14

TUNE CLUB, from 7pm at DOLANOG Community Centre for those wishing to learn and swap Welsh folk tunes on traditional, or not so traditional, instruments.

SLOWBURNER, live music at the Horseshoe Inn, RATLINGHOPE.
