THE following musical events are being held in the area over the coming seven days.
Friday, August 1

LLANDINAM MUSICAL EVENING, with local young musicians at the Village Hall in aid of the Species Habitat Protection Group.

Saturday, August 2

NEWPORT (SALOP) MALE VOICE CHOIR, in concert at LLANGYNOG Memorial Hall organised b
y the fund raising committee of the churches of St Cynogs at Llangynog and St Melangells at Pennant Melangell.

The choir offer to perform fund raising events for churches and charities free of charge. Their first visit to Llangynog last July was so successful that they were invited back.

The choir was founded more than 60 years ago and performs throughout Europe and the UK helping raise many thousands of pounds for charities and is delighted to be returning to Llangynog. Further information from 01691 860718.

BANDA BANDA, seven piece band with Nigerian vocalist playing free lunchtime set live in The Square, SHREWSBURY.

Sunday, August 3

THE MARCHES OBOE SCHOOL, in concert at PRESTEIGNE Assembly Rooms at 3pm led by Hilary Storer, David Powell and Ruth Watson.

Monday, August 4

FFONIC, community folk band meets for sociable music making on Monday evenings at NEWTOWN, playing traditional and new music for ceilidh dances, private parties, festivals, fairs and other community events.

OPEN MIC NIGHT, new singers and acoustic music welcome at The Horseshoe Inn, RATLINGHOPE.

Tuesday, August 5

JAM SESSION, with all musicians welcome every Tuesday from 9pm at the Black Boy Hotel, NEWTOWN.

BORDER FOLK COMMUNITY NIGHTS, musicians and singers welcome at weekly sessions from 9pm at The Grapes, NEWTOWN.

RHAYADER JAM, session at The Cornhill Inn every Tuesday from 8pm for musicians and comics.

THE BLIMS, fun four piece band from Bridgend playing at WOLVERHAMPTON Little Civic with support by El Condor Pasa.

Wednesday, August 6

FOLK NIGHT, regular local gathering on the first Wednesday of the month at The Laughing Dog, HOWEY.

ACOUSTIC SESSIONS, informal folk, blues and jazz every Wednesday from 8.30pm at the Red Lion, LLANIDLOES. Musicians welcome.

LIVE JAZZ, informal music sessions with local musicians at the Dragon Hotel, MONTGOMERY, from 9pm on Wednesdays.

TONY SKEGGS, regular at the Horseshoe Inn, RATLINGHOPE.
