* MAESMAWR ART GALLERY, the CAERSWS gallery hosts new “Light and Form” exhibition featuring Forden painter and installation artist Gemma Hughes and Kerry potter Chris Purdy.

Gallery open Thursday to Sunday 11am to 4pm. Now open is the Stefan Knapp Sculpture Shed, the first indoor sculpture centre in Wales featuring the work of Stefan Knapp, the world famous muralist, sculptor and enamellist.
The new community based Pottery Club at the Mid Wales Arts Centre welcomes new members of all ages and abilities, with experts on hand to advise on projects on Wednesdays from 7pm.
* FIGHT THE BEAR, Bishops Castle indie band at the White Horse Inn, CLUN.

* TONY SKEGGS, popular regular singer songwriter at the Lowfield Inn, MARTON.
* ERICA HERBERT, first exhibition at the CountryWorks Gallery, MONTGOMERY, for the still life and Welsh countryside landscape artist, who lives near Llanfair Caereinion, on to September 22.
* POWYS COMEDY CLUB, at Crystals Nightclub, NEWTOWN with headliner Gerry K, opening act Dave Twentyman, and MC Kevin Shepherd.
* MR BEAT, live music at The Exchange, NEWTOWN.
* LINES OF DESIRE, new Young Curators exhibition at the Oriel Davies Gallery, NEWTOWN until November 3. Rich ambitious show includes drawing, photography, moving image, sound and installation by 20 national and international artists.
Also “Tank”. Shaun Stamp’s sculpture as part of his work using pre-used automotive and engineering oils to reveal a deep fascination with industry and construction.
Official launches of both exhibitions will be this Saturday, September 11 from 6pm launched by David Alston, Arts Council of Wales arts director with the Young Curators, and live music.
* BRIAN JONES, exhibition by the local artist with new oil colours on canvass capturing moods of the Mid Wales countryside, on until November at the Theatr Hafren bar gallery, NEWTOWN.
* SHROPSHIRE ART COMPETITION, at the OSWESTRY Visitor Centre until September 25.
* ”IN THIS PLACE”, local CARAD history and nature exhibition with sculpture, photography and poetry created by local people, on to late October at RHAYADER Museum and Gallery.
* RICK WAKEMAN, legendary keyboardist, and celebrated Grumpy Old Man, in an evening of music and anecdotes, at Theatre Severn, SHREWSBURY.
* ”TWO” Jim Cartwright’s drama set in a northern pub, at Theatre Severn, SHREWSBURY, with final performances tonight and at 2.30pm and 8pm on Saturday, September 11.
* OK BROTHER, acoustic guitar duo live at the Romolo Bar, SHREWSBURY, at 10pm tonight and Saturday.

* ROYAL WELSH SHOW CELEBRITY CONCERT, Brecknock featured county gala with Rhydian Roberts. Sarah Jane Davies and supporting choirs, at the BUILTH WELLS Showground at 7.30pm.

* VOICES FROM THE HEART OF WALES, concert at CLATTER Community Centre with Y Cogie, a male voice choir from Mid Wales; Gill Evans singing traditional Welsh folk songs; Susan Raven singing songs inspired by the Mid Wales landscape; and The Sirens, gorgeous harmonies and voices from the Llanidloes-based female choir.
