FOR the first time in many years a West Wales theatre company will be performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August.

Louche Theatre, based in Aberystwyth, will be performing at GREENSIDE (Venue 231) from the August 9-14. They have secured a ‘prime time’ slot at 6.10pm. The venue is one of the most soughtafter in Edinburgh, having a reputation for presenting exciting new works.

‘The Remnants of Once Fine Girls’ is the story of Sarah who works as a mid-wife for Medecines Sans Frontieres in Darfur.

A tragic death brings her home and disturbs the sense of who she really is. Can she reconstruct her life from the remnants her twin sister left behind?

Author Stephen Todd is an emerging writer, having had his work produced by several London and Regional Theatres. His play, ‘Proud Songster’ was a winner of Channel 4’s competition, ‘The Radio Plays the Thing’ competition in 2007.

Artistic director of Louche Theatre, Harry Durnall, said: “ My cast and crew are very excited about performing at the Fringe…we have an excellent new play, by a very talented writer. As we are an independent theatre company we are funding the visit ourselves and are fund raising to help with the costs.

“Local companies and individuals have been most generous, however we are still a long way short of our target. Any amount of sponsorship would be very very welcome.”
