Friday, July 2
* ”5”, new exhibition bringing together work by former and current Artists in Residence, Ralph Juergen Colmar, Lucy Harvey, Katherine Sullivan, Prija Chonan, and Annabelle Shelton, at ABERYSTWYTH Arts Centre to July 14.
* BAYOU SECO, live music at the SpArC Theatre, BISHOPS CASTLE.
* MAESMAWR ART GALLERY, new exhibition “Euryl’s World” at the CAERSWS gallery by award winning Welsh artist Euryl Steven’s just started with talk and demonstration next Thursday July 8 from 7pm; and “Humourous Figures” workshop on Saturday July 10 from 10am.
Her work is highly inventive and energetic, with insightful observations of Welsh women combining the hilarity of Beryl Cook and the seriousness and poignancy of Lowry's Salford.
“Pagans and Polytopes” exhibition featuring work by children’s book illustrator and printmaker Gini Wade of Llanidloes, her husband Dave and their three children, on to July 5.

* ”THE JOURNEY”, dramatic musical following a young man’s walk from hopeless addiction to freedom, by a professional cast and crew at The Pavilion, LLANDRINDOD WELLS, at 7pm.
* LLANFYLLIN MUSIC FESTIVAL, first concert by the Allegri String Quartet, at St Myllin's Church, with the world premiere of Matthew Taylor's Fado song cycle, a setting of translations of Portuguese poems made by Grey Gowrie; with tenor James Gilchrist.
Allegri concerts continue Sunday, July 4, at the church with music by Purcell, Mendelssohn, and Tippett.
Friday July 9, sees the Allegri joined by The Medlock String Quartet, for works by Mendelssohn, Beethoven, and Brahms; and final concert is Sunday, July 11, with Mark Simpson, Young Musician of the Year in 2006. See the website www.llanfyllinfestival.org.uk

* INSPECTOR GADJO, winners of the International Gypsy Guitar Festival 2009, play Jazz night with guest soloist Casey Greene on sax, flute and clarinet, at the Oriel Davies Gallery, NEWTOWN, with buffet and evening viewing of the new “RE-animate” exhibition
* RE-ANIMATE, new exhibition of contemporary animation by 39 artists from across the UK at the Oriel Davies Gallery, NEWTOWN together with prize winners in the competition launched last December reflecting animation at its most diverse and fascinating.
Visitors have until early August to chose their favourite for the People’s Choice Prize.
Also on to August 18 is Dawn Woolley’s “Interloper”, short digital video loop examining female stereotyping.
* ANNE JENVEY, photographic artist who has lived in Newtown for 16 years, with exhibition until the end of July at the Theatr Hafren bar gallery, NEWTOWN.
* LITTLE RUMBA, Presteigne band at the Horseshoe Inn, RATLINGHOPE.
* FAMILY SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL, opening of weekend of events at the Living Willow Theatre near RHAYADER. Lord Lieutenant of Powys Shan Legge-Bourke opens the festival at 7pm; followed by performances by local singer-songwriter Ellethia, poetry from Tony Walton and Elinor Wyn Reynolds with students from Builth Wells High School; music from the Broken Willow Consort. Mid Wales Youth Theatre, and scenes from “Hamlet” with the Living Willow Community Company.
Saturday, July 3, is a packed day of events from 9.30am with workshops and talks including Puppets with Patrick Cooper; a performance of “The Seagull” by Anton Chekhov by the Factory Theatre Company; a poetry workshop with Elinor Wyn Reynolds; with controversial author and academic Germaine Greer talking about her book “Shakespeare’s Wife” in the evening.
Sunday, July 4, starts at 10am with a dance workshop with Powys Dance, followed by a Sunday service at The Willows; a performance by Silvertwigs children’s dance group, a puppet show with Patrick Cooper; Factory Theatre Company performing “As You Like It”; plus a talk on Shakespeare’s Globe, by Royal Shakespeare Company director Tim Carroll. * GOOD HARE DAY, open air afternoon concert at the church of St Melangell, the patron saint of Hares, PENYBONTFAWR, with the celebrated Banwy Valley harpist, traditional singer and composer Siân James appearing with children of Ysgol Pennant, Penybontfawr.
The day also includes the launch of the new Living Stones Heritage Trail inviting children and families to spot features of interest in and around this ancient pilgrimage church at the head of the Tanat Valley. Also the tale of Melangell and the Hare told by storytellers Des and Ali Quarrell of ‘Mythstories’; and a Hare Treasure Hunt with the prize of a beautiful copper hare made by Stan Jankowski.
