* GREGYNOG FESTIVAL 2010, with celebration of great Georgian Pleasure Gardens, continue at Gregynog Hall, TREGYNON, with concert by the soprano Dame Emma Kirkby, accompanied by the London Handel Players presenting Music for Mrs Arne, An Evening at the Pleasure Gardens, featuring virtuosic arias originally written by Thomas Arne for his wife, the soprano Cecilia Young, to perform at London's Vauxhall Gardens in the 18th century.
Continues Saturday, June 12, between 11am and 5pm, the Music Room is the setting for A Musical Breakfast, with presentations and performances reviving repertoire by Welsh composers, who benefitted by the patronage of the Williams-Wynn family of Wynnstay Denbighshire.
Welsh harp star Catrin Finch will include his music in her Saturday evening concert to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of John Parry, the celebrated Blind Harper of Ruabon, who knew and played for Handel and was associated with London’s Ranelagh gardens.
