THE snow may have delayed the pantomime but the show must go on!

Originally pencilled in for the middle of January, Llanidloes Drama Group’s version of the Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe was postponed during the ‘Big Freeze’ – but will now go ahead in early February, offering the chance to see grown men in dresses and an age old tale re-told for a new generation.

Tony Orme, who plays Dame Martha Muddle, said: “We have been delayed for around three weeks which has been a bit of a nightmare in terms of letting people know new dates, but we have been glad of the extra rehearsal time!

“It ramps the pressure up a bit, but we’re confident we can put on a good show that will entertain the crowds.”

Tony promises a show containing old women fighting pirates, rogue cannibals and witchdoctors, with a few love stories thrown in for good measure.

Llanidloes Drama Group has around 40 members, all of whom will be playing up in one form or another. Mark Breeze, producer, will also play one of the pirates, while Tony’s son Oliver shows up as the mysterious witchdoctor.

“It’s great escapism,” said Tony; “Where else can we dress up as women and muck around for a bit of a laugh.”

The show takes place at Llanidloes Community Centre on February 4, 5 and 6. Tickets are available from Woosnam and Davies Newsagents, Llanidloes.
