TANAT Theatre's next production is Willy Russell's “Blood Brothers”. He is well known for his “Educating Rita” and “Shirley Valentine”. He also wrote “Our Day Out” which the Tanat Theatre performed not too long ago.
“Blood Brothers” is probably better known as a musical but this is a performance of the play.
This is Willy Russell at his most dramatic with an old theme of twins separated at birth, one having been given away due to the parents poverty.
The twins meet later in life, become friends in spite of their different upbringing and make themselves, literally, blood brothers. It could also be said to be Willy Russell's take on the “nature or nurture” debate.
This is a gritty performance by a talented cast and it must be said that it is probably not suitable for young children.
This could well be the last performance of the company at the present Llanrhaeadr Public Hall and takes place on the 9th, 10th, 11th and 16th, 17th and 18th of June, all performances commencing at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £6 for adults and £3 for children and are obtainable from The Paper Shop, Post Office & Greatorex Stores in Llanrhaeadr & Upstairs Downstairs, Oswestry. They may also be booked on 01691 860497.
