'O, FOR a falconer's voice/To lure this tassel-gentle back again'... So pleads Juliet in the famous Shakespearean balcony scene as she longs to call her Romeo back to her.
Aimee Corbett, who is rehearsing Juliet for the latest production by the Willow Globe Company, got her wish last Friday at the Llandrindod Wells Museum.
She is pictured with her Romeo, Robin Scott-Wilson, examining an extremely rare falconer’s whistle thought to date from the 1650s that is now on view in the museum.
According to the museum’s curator, the whistle has ‘worked’ successfully on some birds of prey, calling them back to the handler.
On Friday, May 27, and Saturday, May 28, at 7pm and Sunday, May 29 at 4pm, audiences at the Willow Globe near Llanwrthwl will be able to discover if Juliet’s voice will do the same for her Romeo.
You can get your tickets online at www.willowglobe.co.uk, from ticket outlets The Arches in Rhayader on 01597 810921 or Verzon’s Bookshop and Gallery in Llandrindod Wells on 01597 825171, or take your chances on the door (but be warned – they usually sell out fast).
