SPARC in Bishops Castle goes from strength to strength with an increasingly diverse programme, thanks to SpArClife young promoters and the Dance Alive project, part of the Cultural Olympiad in the West Midlands.
The dynamic Sonia Sabri Dance Company present their incredible new show Kathakbox on Friday , May 13, at 8pm, celebrating the unique, diverse energy of modern Britain through a brand new dance style: Urban Kathak.
Kathakbox brings together Indian Kathak dance’s grace and vigour and the rhythms and rhymes of Hip Hop culture. This bold heart pounding production features dance, spoken word, vocal and beatbox artists. Sonia Sabri performs alongside three dancers and dynamic b-boy Nathan Geering, tabla maestro Sarvar Sabri, acclaimed spoken word artist Zena Edwards and beat boxer Shan Bansil.
The company is also delivering dance workshops in a number of local primary schools including Clunbury, Chirbury, Lydbury North and Wistanstow as well as at the Community College in Bishops Castle.
Tickets are £8 adults/£5 children and a henna artist will be offering beautiful henna designs in the Theatre foyer from 7pm.
On Friday, May 20, SpArClife, SpArC’s young promoters present Victorian magic duo Morgan & West. These temporal tricksters travel 100 years into the future presenting an hour of baffling magic, unparalleled precognitive powers and a totally genuine ability to travel through time with their trademark mixture of magic, wit and whimsy. A sell out show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, this is a great and affordable chance to see them perform on your doorstep!
